Utility Services consists of several independent APIs that are either useful with more than one Core Foundation service, or are too small to stand as a separate service. Utility Services allows you to work with operating-system independent dates and times, perform byte swapping, convert numbers into a form that can be used in property lists, and generate UUIDs for use with Core Foundation plug-ins.
